At lengths from 9.8 to 12m, SWITCH e1 is the first fully electric bus designed specifically for the UK & European Market, available in both left hand drive and right hand drive.The newest NMC powerpack technology reduces mass,increases efficiency and delivers increased range per kg.A lightweight integrated chassis and body constructionimproves efficiencies, delivering lowest TCO for operators andhelps to support operators and authorities achieve their net zero targets.

SWITCH e1 offers interior flexibility and premium driver and passenger comfort as a priority, with contemporary design, sustainable material options throughout the cabin and driver compartment ergonomics that comply with ISO16121.

A premium passenger experience.

Every passenger enjoys a luxurious, comfortable and informed journey with SWITCH e1.

The attractive and contemporary interior design underscores passenger comfort. Features include dimmable interior lighting, under-seat and reading lights and a flexible stop button configuration combined with optimised grab rail positioning to achieve the best balance of visibility and comfort.

The passenger information system includes a ‘Next five stops’ feature, information on other public transport operations in the area and local street mapping, displayed on a 29.4″ ultra-wide monitor.

Flexible USB ports (USB-A/USB-B-C), belted seat options for enhanced passenger safety and bicycle racking options are also available for multi-modal mobility users.

SWITCH e1’s heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) installation also features double skin HVAC ducts which enable HVAC to be directed at passengers.

A free-flowing operation.

SWITCH e1 provides seating for up to 28 people, with contemporary interior design making best use of high-quality materials, flexible seating configuration possibilities and comfort features for a premium passenger experience.

 Three passenger access doors, with a 250mm step-in height when the bus is in its kneeling position, combine with an ultra-low floor throughout to assist less able passengers. No seats are positioned above the battery pack or behind the rear door to hinder movement within the vehicle, making for easier ingress and egress for all.

In consideration of easy access for less able users, wheelchair accessibility is available through the front and middle doors, a unique feature in this sector.

We’ve thought of everything.

Every feature of SWITCH e1 is designed to improve comfort of the occupant and improve efficiency for operators.

Double skin ducting channels air from the HVAC system towards the customer, improving comfort. Localised HVAC Heat pump for the driver ensures maximum comfort.

Driver information displayed directly above driver, reducing distraction and improving safety.

Low voltage cables are easily accessed by removing coving to enable quick and easy maintenance in a safe environment.

Above all, a duty of care.

SWITCH prioritises driver and passenger wellbeing with SWITCH e1.

Active and passive safety are prime considerations. SWITCH e1 helps customers deliver a comprehensive duty of care of all vehicle occupants. Driver aids designed to enhance safety include ABS, Electronic Stability Control and blind spot monitoring amongst others:

Lightweight battery technology takes you further.

SWITCH e1 uses the latest Lithium-NickelManganese-Cobalt-Oxide (NMC) battery chemistry with advanced thermal management.

With lighter weight, smaller size and faster charging, NMC battery technology is the go-to power source for EVs. It enables a 30% smaller battery than conventional Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) power packs and provides increased energy and power density.

Its smaller size means the battery mass can be distributed across the vehicle for more even weight distribution, greater stability and greater range per kg. It also means no passengers will be seated above the battery pack. Fast charging can be achieved in less than 3hrs, with an overnight charging time of 7hrs.

 

Lightweight modular construction, for an even lower TCO.

At 10,775kg, SWITCH e1 is the lightest widely available bus on the European market, with a weight-saving of up to two tonnes resulting in less operational wear and tear.

Fully integrated chassis and body – or monocoque – spaceframe construction gives SWITCH e1 greater strength while reducing unladen weight by up to two tonnes compared with core competitors.

The distributed powerpack helps spread battery mass across the vehicle and the spaceframe construction uses welded box sections, simplifying the manufacturing process. The lightweight battery packs also enable modular roof-mounting allowing for future expansion needs.

SWITCH e1’s emphasis on lightweight construction results in Low Mass gives High Efficiency for Low Energy Consumption and Lower Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
